History

Best Western Mount Pleasant Hotel was originally a farm-house which formed part of a three farm system attached to the Rossington Hall Estate. Rossington, a small village in South Yorkshire dates back to the fifth century and for many centuries was a rural area occupied mainly by farms. The property was purchased in 1938 by Alice Maud Jenkinson and her husband Thomas Stocks, and converted into a hotel. Since then it has been owned and managed by the same family.

Since 1938, generations of visitors to Doncaster have enjoyed the unique country style and character of Mount Pleasant. Our 8 self catering cottages are perfect for visitors wishing to stay for longer periods or for busy professionals who require a home from home. Situated in 100 acres of wooded parkland between the market towns of Doncaster & Bawtry, we have an award winning AA Rosette Restaurant, six fully equipped conference rooms and the finest banqueting facilities to cater for any social event.

The Hotel is currently owned and run by their grandchildren; Richard McIlroy, William McIlroy, Robert McIlroy, and Victoria Coubrough. The hotel has been continuously expanded since 1938, always with a mind to keeping its unique atmosphere and character. Presently, we have 56 luxury en-suite bedrooms, 8 self-catering cottages, the Alice Maud, Thomas Stocks, William James & Faugh-A-Ballagh function rooms, the Garden Restaurant and two dedicated meeting rooms; the Boardroom and Florence Room.

The continuous expansion and focus on quality at all times paid dividends in February 2004 when the Hotel gained Four Star status, and was awarded its first AA Rosette for the Garden Restaurant. January 2005 saw the installation of free high speed wireless Internet access throughout the hotel, including the cottages and work started in July 2005 on 12 new bedrooms and beauty treatment spa facilities, which opened during the summer of 2006.
